Accuracy International was started in 1978 by a group of national and international target shooters, one of which was a two time Olympic Gold Medalist. Designed by shooters, for shooters. The original design's ethos combined two factors into a unique package: namely the incorporation of performance enhancing features learned in Olympic and international target shooting onto a rifle platform exhibiting full militarty ruggedness. The current designs are faithful to the orginal concept but also benefit from thirty years of continuous improvement. These advances are not cosmetic but are driven by the needs of users, highly trained military and police units in over 60 countries world-wide. On a daily basis such units are exposed to "live" tactical situations in the most demanding environments where first shot accuracy is critical. All componets are manufactured to Accuracy Internaional designs to ensure that they must perform, something that cannot be achieved with a ruggedished sporting weapon.
1. Barrel:
The match grade free floating barrel is screwed into the action with a 39mm diameter long thread. This provides a rigid mount and results in consistent cold shot performance. The improved double chamber muzzle brake, screwed on and tension clamped, effectively reduces recoil, muzzle flash and dust eruption. A barrel can be changed in less than ten minutes using the barrel change kit.
2. Action:
The proprietary high
grade steel, flat bottom action is bolted to the full-length aluminium chassis.
A full width machined-in recoil lug totally eliminates movement and ensures that zero will be maintained in arduous conditions. Pressure release point minimises blowback in the event of cartridge failure.
3. Full Length Aluminium Chassis:
The stiffness of the chassis means that any available surface can be used to support the rifle without affecting accuracy, and it’s construction also ensures it is totally unaffected by climatic changes.
4. Folding Stock:
The chassis features a wear compensated hinge so the stock can be folded for parachute insertions or to facilitate transportation. The stock locks in the folded position for security and the avoidance of noise and is easily released by pulling firmly on the butt. When folded, the overall length is reduced by 10" (250mm).
5. Butt Pad
The sprung buffer system in the comfortable butt pad allows relatively low recoil and quick follow up shots.
6. Rear Support:
Featuring quick release and fine screw adjustment modes, the support leg allows the user to accurately sight the target and maintain observation for extended
periods without undue fatigue. Because of its strength, the shot can be taken with the leg in contact with the ground to provide a stable
platform. For transit, it can be retracted
close under the butt.
7. Picatinny Rail:
A standard interface for many optical systems, the Picatinny rail is machined into the action for maximum rigidity.
8. Trigger Assembly:
The rifle is fitted with a two-stage trigger, which allows a large sear engagement to be maintained until the user takes up the first stage. This reduces the chance of an accidental discharge if the rifle is jolted when cocked. The trigger is adjustable for pull weights of
3.3-4.4lb (1.5-2.0kg). The trigger assembly can be easily removed for cleaning by undoing the two socket head cap screws.
9. Safety Mechanism:
The two position safety, blocks the firing pin and locks the bolt in the closed position when to the rear, and allows the weapon to fire in the forward position. The safety will only operate when the bolt is cocked.
10. Stocksides:
Designed to provide a secure grip and a repeatable shooting position in all conditions, the aluminium chassis is encased in polymer stocksides which are impervious to all normal cleaners and lubricants used in small arms maintenance.
11. Bolt:
The 30mm diameter steel, close fitting bolt, combined with vents and a gas shroud minimises blowback in the event of cartridge failure. The short throw (60°) handle lies close to the stockside just above the trigger to minimise movement of the user’s hand.
12.Sling Fixing Points:
Four sling attachment points are fitted as standard. Two are mounted on each side of the weapon, so the rifle can be carried flat against the back for security and comfort over rough terrain and long distances.
13. Magazine:
One five shot detachable steel magazine is included. This industry-leading design is corrosion resistant and low friction for reliable feeding.
