The Browning Citori shotgun is the perfect blend of beauty and performance, and one of most famous over and under shotguns in history. Today's Browning Citori shotguns, as well as all other over and under shotguns on the market today, have their roots in the original Superposed shotgun designed by John M. Browning in the 1920s. While others had tried to develop the over and under shotgun idea, none had perfected it as Browning did. Deviating from the general thinking of gun designers at the time, the idea of one barrel 'superimposed' above the other added a genius level of complexity.
The quality and precision of Browning Citori shotguns are second to none, with each detail being a model of firearm perfection. With its classic styling and smooth, streamlined design, the Browning Citori shotgun fits and shoulders easily. It comes in line instantly, and swings effortlessly through a target. Take a Browning Citori shotgun in hand, and feel the pride of perfection and quality.
Browning Citori shotguns are more than just shotguns - they are the quintessential representative of the Browning brand. Browning Citori shotguns are made to an extreme level of craftsmanship for dependable function, impeccable looks, and championship performance. Wood-to-metal fit and tight, consistent junctions are paramount on the Browning Citori. To ensure the precise fit of critical components, Browning Citori shotguns are machined to exacting tolerances, heat-treated for greater strength, and fitted using the traditional lampblack-and-file method.
Take any Browning Citori shotgun from the rack and you will see the same high level of fit and finish on every firearm. Once you open and close the action, throw it to your shoulder, and sight down the barrels will you fully understand why the Browning Citori has gained its reputation as the finest over and under shotgun available in the world.
For 2010, the Browning Citori shotgun has received a performance upgrade with the addition of Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones in every 12 and 20 gauge model. Once again, the Citori shotgun from Browning Firearms elevates the bar a notch higher for the competition to try to match.
The Citori shotgun from Browning Firearms is engineered for years of performance. With high quality fit and finish and elegantly rugged, the Browning Citori is one of the most durable, long lasting shotguns available.
Hammers and Hammer Ejectors
The hammers of Browning Citori shotguns are powered by coil-type mainsprings for positive primer ignition. The convenient barrel selector allows the shooter to choose which barrel fires on the first pull of the single trigger, and the second pull fires the remaining barrel. Ejectors are activated by a sharp hammer blow for more positive ejection than the push imparted by competitors’ ejectors. The automatic ejectors eject fired shells when the breech is opened and elevate unfired shells for easy removal.
Citori Locking Bolt and Hinge Pin
The Browning Citori utilizes a transverse-mounted, full-width tapered locking bolt, which engages a full-width tapered recess in the rear barrel lugs. The taper allows the bolt to seat deeper over the years. The hinge pin extends from one side of the receiver to the other for maximum strength. It's the reason people say a Browning Citori wears in, not out.
All Citori shotguns from Browning feature chrome-plated chambers to resist the toll of thousands of shells, and to greatly improve corrosion resistance.
Triple Trigger System
All Sporting Clays, XT and XS Series Citori shotguns come equipped with the Triple Trigger system, which allows the shooter to fine tune the length of pull and switch between a wide checkered, a narrow smooth and a wide smooth canted trigger shoe.
Browning Citori shotguns in both 12 and 20 gauge feature Back-Bored Technology
12 and 20 gauge Browning Citori shotguns include the interchangeable Invector-Plus choke tube system. 28 gauge and .410 bore Citori shotguns include the Standard Invector system. Browning choke tubes work in tandem with lengthened Vector Pro forcing cones to produce consistent shot patterns with uniform densities and fewer fliers.
Browning was the first manufacturer to make the back-bored barrel a standard shotgun feature, and now they have gone a step further with Vector Pro technology, which features a lengthened forcing cone over 2 inches longer than other systems. The result minimizes shot deformation and maximizes pattern uniformity, consistency, and density.
