This is my first rifle. I have 4 hand guns, a tactical shotgun, and wanted to include a rifle to my small collection. For over a year I have been considering which type to buy. I chose an AK for it's semi-auto option and because of the price for the rifle itself and the ammunition it feeds. My only reservation was that AKs are not made in the USA making the Centurion my top choice. But the price (between $790.00 and $1,100.00) was still an issue specially when considering there were so many choices under $600.00, mostly from Romania and Yugoslavia (Serbia) all with USA made receivers. I was strongly considering Century's VZ2008 (based on Czechoslovakia's VZ58) which also has a milled American made receiver with striker fire system and a huge ejection port for under $500.00. Not exactly an AK but using the same ammunition and receiving better than average reviews. Then Hinterland reduced the price of the Centurion for the Holidays just within my reach to just under $663.00 from a high of just under $804.00. At the same time there were two other choices from two different sites under that price (one listing for $599.00), but having had read so many reviews highly praising Hinterland's customer satisfaction I did not want to take any chances with my first rifle. I placed my order on Friday 12/11/13 very late that night and received it on 12/23/13 from my FFL an hour after it was delivered to them thanks to UPS tracking, all for just under $688.00 which included my FFL (Southern Defense) fees. This considering the Holiday shipping rush and the delays reported in the news media is in my opinion Outstanding Quality Service. The outside shipping box and the product's own box were like new as if I had picked them out from the shelves myself. The rifle is beautiful, sturdy and strong everywhere I inspected it. I have not shot it yet but I will report again as soon as I do. Additionally, if you are looking for a carrying case I also purchased the "Bulldog Cases Black Extreme Tactical Rifle Case BD421, 40 in" which fits the rifle like a glove; advertised to float, with plenty of padding, 4 magazine pouches and strongly made from durable nylon material for under $40.00 including shipping.
I can't wait to walk onto the range with my new gear.

Bought this rifle early this year. Awesome gun - it's a ton of fun to shoot. It's made in the USA and has a slightly longer length of pull than most AK's. I replaced the grip and added a sling adapter from Echo 93 with no difficulty. The front hand-guard is secure and the red dot I mounted on it had maintained its zero. It did have some teething issues. It took five or six mags through the gun to get the bolt carrier to chamber the next round reliably. Even though it's made in the USA, it's still an AK. There were some burrs on the rails inside the gun that needed to be worn off before the gun would cycle properly. Now that it's broken in, it runs flawlessly. If you're looking for a quality milled AK, this is it. This is a fighting rifle. You won't beat an AR at long range, but that isn't what it's designed to do.

My parents bought me this rifle recently from this website. Great gun all around magazine doesn't wiggle or have play and the sights are clear
The rail on the front is solid and doesn't move. I love the American flag on the side with the words "made in the USA".
The milled receiver is great because all parts are made from the same block of metal. You can tell because all parts are a perfect fit and there are no loosely fit parts.
The muzzle compensator is a great addition as well as the sling mounts, the pistol grip, amazing trigger and the two Tapco 30 round magazines that it comes with. The only downside to this rifle is the stock; the stock is made of a plastic/ polymer material.
This isn't too big of a deal because it's a high quality material but it's still a plastic. I wouldn't be embarrassed at all to show this to my friends with the plastic stock and it will be very easy to change.
Great gun if I had to I would buy it again and would be happy to pay much more that the great price it is at right now (around $850 right now).
Don't search anymore, if you want the best for your money buy this. IF this had a different stock I would give this 7/5 stars if I could.

Received my Centurion 39 and have run about 200 rounds through it. Its my first AK. I actually like it better than my AR-15, feels good, no misfires, no failures to feed.
Ordered a Lucid HD7 to put on it and it will probably be my "go to gun" for medium hunting, like deer and wild boar. Got a good deal and seems to be a very good product.

I have been looking for a milled AK for little over a month now and almost bought a milled Norinco lower receiver and barrel to do a build. I stumbled upon this American AK by Century Arms and couldn't believe it.
It has almost all of the features I was already looking for in an AK47. First off, it's milled. You can't compare a stamped receiver to a milled one, that's the biggest plus. Pre-built quad-rail on the forend.
Beats paying $150 buying an aftermarket and bothering with installation and fitment issues. Proprietary recoil compensator. If you don't like the already awesome addition of this item, you can take it off and add whatever kind of flash suppressor you like onto it.
The stock is nice but that will be probably the first thing I will replace on here, as the collapsible are far superior IMO. Bottom line, if you're looking for the superior quality of the milled AK47, look no further, this gun is worth every penny.
And to top it off, you'll be supporting an American company and getting an AK with the American flag etched into the side. MADE IN USA baby!
