Few if any of today's muzzle loaders (in lines) provide a means of identifying if a primer is present on the nipple of the weapon. The bright orange primer carrier for the NEF Huntsman is visible at a glance, when it is mounted to the nipple of the gun.

The primer carrier that mounts on the nipple eliminates the fumbling around with cold hands, trying and mount a 209 primer against a naked gun nipple. The orange tab of the mounted primer carrier then gives a visible verification that the gun is ready to shoot.
