Glaser safety slugs were invented to give superior stopping power over conventional bullets. Glaser blue uses a #12 shot core of over 220 fragments for maximum ricochet and overpenetration. Glaser silver uses a #6 core of 31 fragments to penetrate 50 % deeper. Both blue and silver have the same bullet weights, velocity and muzzle energy in a given caliber.

The CA Dept of Corrections used to shoot H&K 94 carbines with 9mm Glazer rounds. This was the perfect Safety (indoor Round) especially inside of a cement bldg. I had a round fired over my head and hit the lock box just 10' behind me. The Glaze round ricocheted and totally fragmented and I could feel the fragments brush off of my Tuffy jacket. No injuries to me or anyone around me.
In another shoot on the yard, an inmate was shot in his butt cheek during an altercation. I escorted the inmate to the infirmary ER. As the Dr was examining the inmate I commented to the Dr. "That's a nasty exit wound"! The Dr told me there is No exit wound that's the Entrance wound!" The wound was little over twice the diameter of the 9mm round and penetrated maybe 5-6 "s and stopped. No exit wound!
I can only imagine the .45 cavitation and damage it can cause.
In my humble opinion this is the best defense safety round there is. Just look up YouTube .45 Glazer ballistics. You will see for yourself.
