Just bought a used 17 and took it to the range. Could not have been more pleased based on its quality and accuracy vs my previous 9mm (Ruger). I will definitely buy another Glock.

This is my first hand gun. The intended use was for sport target shooting and to become confident in pistol handling. I had fired most hand gun calibers; 45 ACP, 380 sig, 9mm and 357.
I narrowed down to .40S&W and 9mm and selected 9mm for cost per round. My main concern was ease of use, maintenance, and reliability.
After reading opinions on the internet, I determined I wanted light weight, and narrowed down to the Glock and the Springfield Armory XD. The Glock 17 felt good in my large hands and has minimal complexity to operate.
It is simple to field strip and clean, There are plenty of resources to help me understand this particular hand gun. I have fired less than 200 rounds of three brands of ammunition and have had no reliability issue (still early).
I feel I can grow into this gun and learn to shoot. If I enjoy pistol shooting, I can grow into larger calibers with the same Glock ergonomics.
