Product Description

The Henry pump action octagon .22 joins faded jeans, Moms apple pie, a restored '57 Chevy as an all American icon. Now fitted with a blue octagonal barrel, it resurrects the great old days of the traditional shooting gallery. The Henry Pump Octagon, available in calibers .22 LR or .22 Magnum, is one gun that is built for fun. It also sports a grooved receiver for mounting a scope, and Marbles semi buckhorn fully adjustable rear sights with standard 3/8" dovetail slots enabling you to change sights if you choose to do so. Beautifully finished American walnut is used for the stock. The .22 LR version can hold 15 rounds of .22 LR and as much as 21 rounds of .22Short. The capacity of the .22 Magnum is 12 rounds.

A friend of mine owns one of these and I love this rifle. It is fun to shoot. So I have decided that I need one for myself to hunt with.

I bought this gun soon after reading the review in The Rifleman back in 2010. It looked like a beautifully made gun with fine walnut stocks and excellent finish in blued steel.

However, when running through 100 or so rounds it began to jam and I would have to disassemble the gun to get the bulging rounds out. Also the hammer would not stay in the quarter cocked safe position. The slide is very flimsy with the action's arm attached to the aluminum slide car with only a small rivet which repeatedly came off causing the jamming.

The aluminum slide car rests loosely on the tubular magazine with no bearings so the forehand stock wobbles and puts a binding force on the whole mechanism. In short it was very poorly and cheaply engineered.

After sending it in twice for repairs Henry exchanged it for a Golden Boy lever action in 22 wmr. I believe they suspended production at that time and re-worked the mechanism. I would avoid this rifle if they did not resolve this issue.

Several years ago, my brother bought a Henry 22 LR pump action and put a scope on it in, and took it out in the boondocks, where we fine tuned it.

At 40 yards we were able to nail another 22 cartridge on the primer end. I was out of work at the time, as i couldn't afford a gun. Just recently i was looking on the web site,a nd saw the 22 magnum on Hinterland.

Well I couldn't pass this deal @ $459.00 with free shipping so I bought the rifle! I'M STILL BROKE, but retired. I just had to buy one!
