While in the USAF 1959-1963, I purchased a 4"bbl Colt 6rd revolver and a 6"bbl High Standard Double Nine 9-rd. revolver.
The small Colt was lighter and handier to carry around in a pocket while tramping around in the woods or along the river, but the large square-slotted blade sights on the Double Nine S/D made a better hunting piece - picking off squirrels in dead trees and brush along and across the river.
It was deadly accurate consistently at 50 - 100 ft.
So also goes for this Heritage 9"bbl 6rd SA revolver. High quality, reliability and accuracy. Had forgotten how loud and powerful this size a .22 revolver. Definitely use my Sportsmans Guide Electronic ear muffs, which are only $17.00. This 9" long barrel western 6-shooter has imposing looks and is attention getting.
Get lots of compliments from friends who have shot it at the range. Several are considering buying one since they saw the low prices on the site. My two grandsons ages 15 and 17 have abandoned my little GSG-5 22 cal., 22rd. semi-auto sub machine gun - in favor of the new Heritage .22LR/.22WMR revolver.
This gun is tight and smooth, easy to handle and heavy enough for steady aiming. My only problem is getting my grip adjusted to relieve my old crooked hand making the middle joint of my right middle finger pressing against the right edge of the back of the trigger guard.
Presses a groove across the boney finger. May have to carve myself some custom mesquite or bodark grips with finger guide grooves to hold that finger away from the guard.
The only actual change I would suggest looking into for future models, is to use a flop-out cyclinder to speed up and make it easier to load and unload. Otherwise a good performer and well worth the money.
An excellent buy.
