Product Description

Hardwood grips are precision inlet on modern computerized machinery (CNC) then hand finished on actual factory frames, assuring a proper fit. Finally they are hand polished to a non slippery sheen using natural carnauba wax which will not crack and peel like cheap sprayed on finishes.

This is a good, solid grip for round butt N-frames. I'd used one, before, on a 5" barrel Model 629, to replace the functional, but less-elegant Hogue rubber grips which came on that .44, stock-from-the-box. My more recent purchase of this grip seems to fit more tightly to the grip frame, which is a GOOD thing. It only needed to be drifted-into place, with gentle tapping, so installation was simple and easy. These grips fit the N-frame better than the wooden grips which came on the modern, late-model 629, since the upper portion of the stock grips were "proud," that is, sticking-out from the grip frame, which has caused these stock grips to bite the hands of shooters, during recoil. These Hogue grips offer a smooth surface that ENDS that problem. The only caveat, as far as I'm concerned, is that the color and character of these grips varies, from example to example, just as random pieces of wood vary in their appearance. The photo above looks like dark walnut, but my new set has more pronounced "striped" character, and a more orange color. Is that a complaint? No, since my new grips actually look better with a tan-colored leather holster, but customers should be aware of the fact that your grips may vary in color from the set shown in the photo. I don't believe you'll be disappointed with the look, the fit, or the functionality of these grips, and I'm now on my SECOND set, purchased for yet another Smith & Wesson N-Frame. Highly recommended.
