I purchased one of these rifles while they were widely available and am very glad I did. Theses are excellent guns. I converted mine, moving the trigger group forward, adding a pistol grip, and changing the stock. It is true that, unconverted, the trigger is quite bad. The reliability is second to none- personally I have fired over 500 rounds with zero issues of any kind. None. At all.

Ammunition can normally be had for about the same price as 7.62x39 or steel case 223, or for only $0.14 per round(!) if you wait for the cans of surplus to become available as they do every few months.
