Magnum Research : Baby Desert II Eagle
Magnum Research Baby Desert Eagle is an excellent shoice for a handgun for its value and its fury of firepower. Even for shooters with the smaller set of hands, the compact version of the Baby Desert Eagle is comfortable and the ideal pistol for this situation.
This MRI Baby Desert Eagle II is the updated version of the classic CZ 75 pistol from Ceska Zbrojok, the handgun of choice for many police and military organizations in Europe, and the legendary Browning 1911. Similar to both of these Pistols, the new Compact Baby Desert Eagle II has a short recoil- operated, locked breech action. As in, the barrel and slide of the pistol are locked together as they start to mover rearwards. Then the barrel cams downward and stops after recoiling a short distance. With the slide continuing to move rearward, the fired cartridge is ejected. As it returns to battery, a fresh cartridge is stripped from the magazine and is fed into the chamber.
There is an ambidextrous manual safety on the MRI Baby Desert II Eagle. It is mounted at the rear of the slide. With this feature, this Magnum Research pistol is able to be carried with the hammer cocked as the safety is engaged. With the slide riding on the inside the frame of this handgun, not the outside; resulting in a snug slide-to-frame fit and a solid lockup when the gun is in battery. This highly increases the accuracy of the Baby Eagle II with its very safe design.
The Baby Desert Eagle II from MRI Compact, is 7.25 inches long, weighs 3.9 ounces, and its slide is 1.125 inches.
Magnum Research imports the Baby Desert Eagle pistols from Israeli Weapons Industries, aka IWI, located in Israel. These semi-automatic pistols have been upgraded since the last time they were in the USA. These upgrades include enhanced sights and the addition of the rail. With 3 different chambers to choose from, 9mm, 40 S&W (Smith & Wesson), and 45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol), shooters also have the choice of a full-size, semi- compact, or the compact version of the Baby Desert Eagle II. Some of these models can either be a polymer frame or a steel frame.
This unique version of the Desert Eagle is a conventional double action first shot with each subsequent shot single action (DA/SA), until the slide-mounted safety/decocker is applied.
