The POF-USA model P415 regulated gas piston carbine rifle, .223 winchester with a 14.5in heavy contour fluted barrel. The P415 has a 11SX modular railed receiver, collapsible stock and a A3 flattop upper receiver. Rifles come in a choice of two finishes: NP3 coated and black anodized. POF specializes in the manufacturing of custom gas piston AR's dedicated to the precision, quality and reliability of the weapons they develop. These are custom rifles and built to order.

Worth the wait, but POF needs to keep up the quality to retain their high demand and following. First and foremost this is an awesome battle rifle.

The operation is extremely smooth and the POF muzzle brake keeps you on target for follow up shots as fast as you can squeeze the trigger. I would have liked for POF to keep the Vltor stock and a Hogue-style/type grip. Going to the Magpul was "beneath" a rifle in this class.

Also the rifle shipped without an ambi-selector. (POF customer service has promised to send me one once they are in stock.) The trigger assy in this rifle is of much higher grade than a standard trigger, however, if you were expecting something like pictured above (blue) that looks more like a Timney drop in trigger that is not what they are currently shipping with (it looks more like a beefed up standard trigger assy). The trigger is very crisp and smooth.

I decided to go with POF over LWRC and others because I think their gas piston system is superior. There are no tiny springs and fewer moving parts--a good thing in my book. The operating system is extremely easy to clean and the coating on the BCG means you just wipe off what dirt makes it into the upper receiver.

I love this rifle. I will buy another one if I decided to buy another piston AR. I do hope that POF keeps up with their quality control, does a better job keeping stocks, grips, and other 'out-of-house' parts on hand, and overall makes sure that the quality that made them famous is not diminished by the volume they are trying to kick out.

My best advice would be to tell you to find one and inspect it before you buy. (Good luck finding one at your local gun show/shop though! Hahahaha.)

Great gun, love the NP3 coating on the internals, and the lower/upper receiver. Great price and great service from Hinterland Outfitters!
