I specifically wanted a 590a1. First, Hinterland's customer service was great. Ordered by phone in 10 mins. and it shipped a couple of days later. Very pleased with the product. Ran about 100 rounds first time at the range and the action started to loosen-up, which is typical of the 500/590. This gun will eat anything in the form of 12 ga. While the heavy-walled barrel adds a little heft, it also mitigates some recoil. There is a noticeable difference from the standard 590. I'd estimate there is about 15-20% improvement in felt recoil even when using the standard stock. Another nice feature is the stock forend, which is quite ergonomic. Overall, a real beast and workhorse of a pump shotgun. So far as the 870 goes (which I love, too), do you prefer the Ford or the Chevy? Like them both.
