This is the rifle that I have wanted since I started looking for a bolt action. Now I have it. After opening the box, the length of the barrel is just truly amazing and with the twist ratio...man I am very pleased with this rifle. I would recommend when this rifle comes in stock you pick it up A.S.A.P.

I have been researching bolt action rifles in 308 caliber for the past 2 weeks and this rifle keeps coming up as one of the best buys for the price.
I gave it a 4 star because most people that purchase it say they have to replace the OEM stock with a upgraded version to ensure the best accuracy of the weapon since the barrel is not a floating barrel.
There seems to be some pressure placed at the front of the barrel, if Remington could upgrade the stock or correct this issue then it would definitely be a 5 star rifle for the price.
If you take the action out of this OEM stock and place it into another higher end stock you will have yourself a very dependable and capable rifle for under $900 (not included glass, etc).

I've researched a lot of deer hunting/sniper rifles this season. And this is my next purchase! The price difference in the R700 tactical and the R700 tactical with the threaded barrel (AAC-SSD) is only like $20 difference.
Plus the barrel twist is 1:10 instead of 1:12, so you can fire a heavier grain more accurately! Of course a suppressor for your threaded barrel will run you over $1,000 with taxes/license but at least you have that option later if you want to!
