Was looking High and low to find one of these and found it here at Hinterland. Upon inspection the wood on the fore-grip was poorly finished. Not that it bothers me, but if you were to compare it to a Marlin or Winchester, it would be lacking. Then again they don't make a rifle in 454 Casull. Was able to fire a variety of 45 colt and 454 through the rifle. Cowboy loads are a gas on this but the recoil on the 454 is gruesome. Thank goodness for the butt pad. My rifle shoots off to the left and with these sights, you have to knock them over to adjust them. Also, slow cowboy loads shoot high on this and you have to put the bead at the very bottom of the buckhorn groove to keep it in the line of site, Bringing the bead up to the arc keeps the elevation correct for the faster loads (1300+ fps). I haven't taken it back to the range to see if I knocked it correct, and I'll probably wind up getting Skinner peep sights or an adjustable set for the rifle. Overall, I really like this rifle The gun is light, easily and quickly sighted and shoots very consistently and I love the simplicity of its styling. It's not perfect or a museum piece, but functionally it does the job very well and that's pretty much what I want. The action is slightly gravelly but operates without failure. Price considered I'd give it four stars, overall three, functionally 5. I don't like the sightss, and the wood isn't as nice as it could be, but I'd replace it if lost or stolen.

Nice rifle - shoots well and comes up quick. I give it a 4 because it's not quiet as my Winchesters are. Nice rifle for the price.
