I purchased a Ruger No. 1 Light Sporter in. 35 Whelen and a case of Federal Premium Vital Shok .35 Whelen ammo topped with 225 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullets from Hinterland Outfitters recently and I am very happy with both my rifle and the ammo.

The No.1, like all No. 1's is gorgeous and very accurate with the Federal load. Yesterday, I took a Wisconsin black bear with the combination and it traveled less than ten yards after the shot.

Internal damage was massive and the exit wound was golf ball size. I have no problem recommending both.
