The potent Ruger Super Redhawk revolvers are popular among hunters, metallic silhouette shooters and those looking for an added level of safety when outdoors in dangerous game country. Ruger Super Redhawks are available in standard satin stainless. Handgun hunters can choose from 7.5 or 9.5 inch barrels. The .480 Ruger offers approximately one third more energy than the powerful .44 Magnum and divides the gap between the .44 Magnum and .454 Casull. Ruger Super Redhawk revolvers are strong handguns that easily withstand the stresses imposed by the calibers for which they are chambered.

The quality of this gun is great, as is the fit and finish. I had an 2-8 power scope on mine for a while, and shooting deer at 100 yds with the aid of a shooting stick was easily done. The recoil took a little of getting used to with near redline loads. Hornady is good about putting out ammo with the cartridge either in 325 or 400 gr xtp loads, but they do cost a lot. Since Rainier doesn't make a bullet for this caliber anymore, you about have to load the Hornady XTP bullets unless you want to load lead bullets. It has more than enough power to take any animal in north America, but if you want to shoot it a lot and have a lot of power get this pistol in 454 Casull. At least then you can shoot 45 lc ammo through it for practice. The bullet selection is immense compared to .475 (480) bullet selection with regards to reloading. If you want a Magnum revolver with a scope, you can't beat the integrated scope rings.
