The SIG SAUER® 1911 model pistols are composed of all stainless steel frames and all stainless steel slides precisely machined to exact tolerances; and to insure reliability and performance they are hand fitted. The re-engineered 1911 model from SIG uses only top-of-the-line or premium internal parts. Some of these parts include the match-grade barrel, hammer/sear set and trigger. On the SIG 1911 handgun, the slide sports Novak® night sights. The mainspring housing features a 20 LPI (lines per inch) checkering and 25 LPI checkering on the front strap of the frame. The checkered custom wood grips compliment the mainspring housing and front strap checkering very well. With the frame and slide being de-horned, the SIG 1911 is perfect for the full-size concealed carry handgun. The SIG SAUER 1911 pistol features many safety features, such as: a beavertail grip safety with speed bump, extended thumb safety, firing pin safety and hammer intercept notch. Some of the 1911 models from SIG SAUER come with the option of an integrated accessory rail.

I received this 1911 on Friday and took it to the range on Sunday. I ran about 70 rounds through it, two different reloads, one 185 grain and one 230 grain. No problems. Fit and finish are excellent -- the barrel bushing is tight and requires a wrench to move, but I expect that to loosen over time. The magazines insert and eject nicely and positively. Sight picture is good and I shot decent groups at 15 yards. I like the lack of a rail -- it seems more classic to me. It feels good in my hand (I have med-large hands) and safety controls work well. This is my first 1911 and I like it a lot!!!

Wow. What a pistol. Fit and finish is perfect. No rattles, squeaks, or scratches. The action is as smooth as silk. Night sights are bright and very easy to acquire a good sight picture. The trigger is crisp with only the slightest amount of creep. I really like the "speed bump" beaver tail safety. Magazines insert and eject with ease and crispness.
The biggest surprise to me was how incredibly nice the checkered front strap and main spring housing is. It feels like your hand is attached by Velcro to the pistol. It makes pointing and aiming very, very easy and consistent. Compared to other 1911's I've held, this Sig Sauer is easily the most comfortable.
The accuracy of this pistol is also impressive. I'm no competition shooter, and I was able to put together consistent tight groupings from 30 feet. Hitting golf balls from 20-25 feet is also not a problem. The pistol also feeds and ejects all kinds of ammo. I fired approximately 150 rounds, a mixture of ball and hollow point home defense rounds, with no issues whatsoever. It fires consistently single rounds, double-taps, or all eight rounds.
I would recommend this pistol to anyone. Very well made, visually appealing, powerful, accurate, and above all reliable.
