As of March 29, 2011 it has been 100 years since the U.S. military adopted the 1911 single action semi-auto pistol. The early history of the piece has been told and re-told. It should suffice to note that the 1911 served in both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam and since being replaced , it has served in SW Asia. Smith & Wesson offers this special edition in special Serial Number Range (JBP0001-JBP0500) and comes with a Glass Top Presentation Case. It also features a special glass bead engraved finish.

This is an amazingly crafted weapon. The engraving is beautiful and this pistol is just perfect in the display case that comes with it. I wish I could find another one!! Excellent job on a 100 year anniversary pistol.
