Initially what was most impressive was the esthetics, attention to detail, and fine craftsmanship evident upon viewing this pistol.
At fraction of the cost, it looked like what one might expect from one of the custom 1911’s. Functionally, it performed without a hitch, both traditional ball and JHP ammo without a problem, while producing tight patterns downrange.
The trigger was crisp, with only the slightest hint of a creep, but not enough to affect accuracy. Unlike some other 1911’s, on reassembly the slide stop pin fell into place like hot butter, another indication of the excellent workmanship that went into this piece.
Because of the configuration of the recoil spring plug for the full length guiderod, it was necessary to use either the wrench supplied or some other hard object to release the barrel bushing (a wooden dowel also worked just fine).
Also, because of the full length guiderod, it apparently is necessary to remove the recoil spring before removing the guiderod from the slide.
While not a problem, this was not covered in the owner’s manual. This pistol more than lived up to its advanced billing.
