Great gun. Accurate, has very low recoil for a 40 cal, and I really like the grip safety along with the trigger safety.
Makes you feel very comfortable carrying one in the chamber without having the worry of an accidental discharge. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a reliable pistol on a budget.

Excellent subcompact for concealed carry. The 9mm and 40sw both work well; the 9mm has a 16rd capacity with a magazine extension vs a 12rd capacity in the 40sw.
The magazine extension adds about an inch to the grip; if you're like me and have big hands, this is incredibly helpful as it allows the subcompact to fit my hand well and makes the draw smoother and easier.
The double-action only configuration is good for concealed carry to ensure you have acquired and identified your target before firing. Overall, I have found the XD subcompact to be the best concealed carry firearm for me.
I also have Sig p226 - while an excellent weapon, it is very large to carry concealed, and the weight takes its toll. I compared this against a Sig p229; while I love Sig, a p229 is $900-1000, vs. $460-500 for the XD.
The XD is incredibly reliable, provides excellent capacity for its size, is easy to clean, has manageable recoil, and is all-around well balanced in all factors involved in choosing a sidearm. Highly recommended; the
