The 800 series is derived from the successful "Taurus OSS" pistol designed for the U.S. Armed Forces, but adds an external hammer. The 800 Series is now ready with "Strike Two" capability. If you have had a hard primer and the gun misfires, the 800 Series senses this and automatically gives you instant "Strike Two" capability by resetting the trigger for automatic double action re-strike. No need to do anything else, simply pull the trigger.

I am in love with this pistol - as far as loving an inanimate object can go. Being left handed, this pistol was made with us in mind. Almost everything is ambidextrous; the safety, the decocker, and the mag release. Being an old Army NCO, a long time ago we had .45 caliber sidearms and I loved it and I am particularly partial to that caliber and with a hammer.
Taurus has added a breakdown feature like the Glocks have. That in itself is worth the price. I love the hammer because I don't like having to fight the spring when I get ready to fire - locked and cocked, I'm ready to issue HP lead tootsie rolls. I like the 4" barrel (bbl) even though it is a bit bulky for concealed carry. This pistol is a business machine. It handles easy. The recoil is not overtaxing. It comes with one (1) 12+1 magazine, thus giving you 13 shots to dispatch the bad guy(s), whether flesh and blood or paper. Taurus has really excelled in making this pistol. They are not makers of "Saturday Night Special's". They have stepped up with the big boys with their new lines of handguns. Even though I didn't buy my PT845 from Hinterland Outfitters, their price is actually lower than what I paid by a handful of dollars. Since I discovered their pricing, which is lower than most all other online stores, I am looking here to shop first. I'm sure you will be well pleased with your Taurus PT 845 as I am with mine. Hooah!
