Taurus makes good affordable guns - period!
The Taurus 627 Tracker in .357 magnum is a perfect first gun and permanent weapon. It is an exceptional handgun, but its light weight does not slow down its stiff recoil.
However, its "ribber" grip keeps the .357 kick tolerable without you suffering any wrist or thumb pain. When I use .38 special shells in the 627, minimal recoil is felt and accuracy increases.
I have shot thousands of shells through my four (4) inch barrel tracker and it still functions like it did the first time I went to the range with it. I am not sure the ported barrel helps with the recoil although it might look cool, but it seems to be the only drawback in cleaning the barrel.
Because I have enjoyed shooting this tracker, I purchased another Taurus Tracker, the 992. Hope this tracker is just as fun to shoot as the 627. You can't go wrong if you decide to purchase this revolver.
