Disclaimer: 1. Evaluated by a shotgun neophyte; my expertise lies with rifles. 2. I have not yet discharged the piece. PROBLEMS: 1. The switch that breaks it open will not seat into its properly locked position, reaching only about half-way. Not saying it suddenly breaks open, but still... 2. The resistance to the 2 halves angling open is prohibitively tight. A hunter wanting to rapidly reload after discharging is not going to be able to do so. I have had to brace it across my body, like a wrestling move, to get it to open. The factory manual says both these problems will wear away with use. In my book that is an excuse for poor quality control. 3. The chokes it comes with are the cheapest, flimsiest things, like a Cracker Jacks toy. Any prospective buyers factoring in the claim that it comes with 2 chokes (as I did) had better reconsider. 4. If you plan to hunt waterfowl (as I do), a shotgun expert at Bass Pro told me that I cannot use full chokes in combination with the legally required steel shot. He said I have to settle for the lesser degree, modified. Did not like this one bit, because, as a former Army sniper, the whole idea of shot spread is anathema to me, and I wanted the tightest shot grouping I could get. GOOD POINTS: 1. It is an attractive, robust looking piece—if that’s your type. 2. It has a solid feel to it, unlike some fragile antiques that you’re afraid to take outdoors.
