Bought the Model 70 Alaskan because I prefer a slightly heavier piece and a longer barrel. The new Model 70s certainly are well made, feel great to operate (nothing much smoother other than maybe some fancy German rifles), and it shoots very straight. After breaking in with mil and commercial ammo, I fired three different handloads through it. The worst result of the three at 100 yds was 3/4" x 3/4". Yes,that was the worst. Really. Of course the best wasn't that much better -- 1/2" x 5/8". But I'm not complaining.
