Product Description

Straight grip stock for handling speed, all steel receiver, walnut stock, Invector-Plus choke system.

Heavy duty meets light handling. The world's toughest pump shotgun is also the platform for a quick, fast handling upland gun. The addition of an English-style straight grip stock not only reduces weight, it also positions your hands for faster pointing at fast moving birds.

The birds. From pheasants to crazy quail you can get on target faster. The ventilated rib gives you a good level of target visibility. The traditional silver-colored front bead won't interfere with the kind of shooting this shotgun is designed for.

The best pump there is. For most companies, the pump shotgun is an entry-level item built for the beginner. We don’t see it that way, knowing there are shooters who demand the highest quality and reliability from their pump shotgun. The BPS uses a rugged, machined steel receiver, steel internal components and twin steel action bars for long-lasting, bind-free, pump-action performance.

First of all, Hinterland Outfitters is a company that is second to none in customer service and ships guns as they should be - well protected and on time. Five stars for Hinterland Outfitters as usual. As for the Browning BPS Upland Special 16 Gauge, I give the gun four stars. The reason for this is because the factory chokes do not match the common constrictions for which they are labeled. The IC choke is a .007 constriction instead of the .010 ,ommon constriction (not a huge deal), the Modified choke is a .013 constriction instead of the common .020, and the Full choke is a .044 as opposed to the .030 common constriction. Not knowing this was extremely frustrating when shooting this gun on the trap range until I measured it with my calipers. I bought some Trulock aftermarket chokes to fill out the missing Modified and Full choke constrictions. The other drawback is the buttplate. This gun deserves a similar recoil pad to the 12 gauge models. I am not recoil sensitive. The gun would just be more comfortable to shoot with a decent recoil pad because of the ergonomics of the stock. Finally, I have had the mechanism lockup on me a couple of times. I first attributed this to not completely cleaning the gun put of the box to remove all of the oil coating the gun was shipped with. After numerous cleanings and oilings, the problem still happens. I'm still convinced the action need's a better cleaning than I have given it. The shotgun handles extremely well. It is perfectly balanced with the 24-inch barrel. The gun points very nicely. Despite my issues, I would still recommend this gun for anyone wanting a good 16 gauge pump shotgun that carries like a 20 gauge and hits like a 12 gauge.
