Sig Comparison Chart (PDF)

What makes Sig Sauer pistols the weapons of choice for elite units around the world, and the smart choice for anyone? A hard-earned reputation for getting everything right - design, materials, precision manufacturing, ergonomics, function, safety, accuracy, reliability, durability, maintenance, accessories and options.

The Sig success story began in 1985, when Sig began to distribute the P220 semi-automatic pistol, which instantly became the pistol to reckon with. This Sig Sauer pistol led the semi-auto revolution, and the qualities that made that happen are still here (and then some) in the current Sig Classic line of pistols.

Sig Sauer incorporates the most advanced firearms technologies while providing true value. While other manufacturers have gone to plastic frames to cut costs, Sig Sauer has refused to cut corners.

About Sig Sauer Pistols

Sig Sauer has been a world-renowned choice for global military, law enforcement, and civilians for much of the late 19th through 20th century. Their high quality and advanced features keep all experience levels and firearm needs in mind, which is why we’re a proud purveyor of Sig Sauer firearms.

Sig Sauer began as Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft, or SIG, a wagon manufacturer in Switzerland in 1853. In 1864, founders Frederich Peyer im Hof, Heinrich Moser and Conrad Neher were inspired to enter into the gun industry by a challenge from Switzerland’s Federal Ministry of Defense to create the next state-of-the-art rifle. They won and produced 30,000 of the award-winning Prelaz-Burnand rifle for the Swiss Army, which propelled them fiercely into the firearm industry.
Sig continued to develop legendary battlefield and competition firearms for the Swiss Army and police with pistols like the P220 and P230. In 1976, Sig expanded their small arms business by forming partnerships with German rifle and pistol manufacturer J.P. Sauer & Sohn, as well as Hammerli Target Arms in Switzerland. It wasn’t until 1985 that Sig decided to venture to the American market in hopes of becoming an international small arms leader.

Today, Sig Sauer is one of the largest global firearms manufacturers. The gun producer also operates the New Hampshire-based Sig Sauer Academy, which offers firearms-related training tailored to armed professionals in law enforcement, the military, security, and correctional operations personnel. The academy also serves private citizens with firearms safety and training.
