The genius of innovation and pacesetting performance associated with the Weatherby name extends back more than 70 years. The history of Weatherby began in the mid-1940s when a brilliant young cartridge “wildcatter” named Roy Weatherby set out to change the world of firearm performance. Roy singlehandedly developed high-speed bullets, known today as the high-powered Weatherby Magnum cartridges, for which the company is so well known.
During Roy’s creative heydays of bullet-development brilliance, he also found time to tinker with producing and re-chambering various rifle design actions that could accommodate his ammunition. Appreciated around the world today as the sturdiest bolt action design and able to withstand incredible pressure, the Mark V took the hunting and shooting community by storm.
Passing down the heirloom of success, this family-operated company, now in its third generation of Weatherby family management, is still manufacturing and achieving significant accomplishment. Equally important to the company’s success has been their engrossment in the tradition and heritage of hunting and its relationship to the natural resources that remain so near and dear to hunters and shooters alike.
Today, Weatherby offers two Weatherby Rifle designs for sale: the classic Mark V Rifle models and the value-produced, price-conscious Vanguard lines of centerfire rifles. Range certified rifles, which have passed rigorous testing that shows their ability to fire a 3-shot group at 100 yards measuring 0.99” or less (SUB-MOA), are also available in both the Mark V and Vanguard models. These range certified rifles are signed and certified by Adam Weatherby, and feature a specially engraved floorplate with the Range Certified logo.
Weatherby rifles are constructed to deliver top quality, more value, and superior in class performance. See for yourself why the product lives up to the company’s motto, “Nothing shoots flatter, hits harder, or is more accurate.”
The Weatherby Mark V rifle series was introduced in 1958 and quickly became recognized as one of the most accurate and reliable standard production hunting rifles on the market. All Mark V rifles are SUB-MOA accuracy guaranteed.
Mark V rifles feature hand-lapped, free-floating fluted stainless-steel barrels that are finished with two-tone Cerakote finish that provides waterproof, corrosion-proof protection and durability, as well as assists in ensuring the bullet’s flight path will be true and consistent.
The stocks have been ergonomically enhanced with a slimmer forearm and sharper, more distinctive lines. The grip diameter has been reduced and a slight right-hand palm swell has been added, along with overall weight reduction. Some stocks feature a hand-laminated, raised comb Monte Carlo composite configuration, which are designed for use with scopes. The LXX trigger system has a wide face for increased trigger-to-finger contact and is adjustable down to 2.5 pounds. The engagement surfaces are precision ground and polished with refined overall tolerances.
The Weatherby Mark V rifle uses two action sizes: the larger 9-lug bolt action is used for the larger Weatherby Magnum calibers, and the smaller 6-lug action is used for the 240 Weatherby and all standard calibers. The fluted bolt body features three gas ports to allow high pressure gases to escape while eliminating binding for smoother action. The 54-degree bolt lift allows for faster chambering compared to the typical 90-degree industry models.
The Mark V rifle has been billed as the world’s best action rifle, and the ideal balance to the ultra high velocity magnum cartridges that Roy so successfully put into production. For enthusiasts who prefer the definitive in speed and power, who go charge after the biggest animals, the Weatherby Mark V Magnum system has no equal, and will bring you much needed peace of mind when hunting large game out in the field.
Regardless of which Weatherby Mark V Rifle you select, whether it’s an Ultra Lightweight for Dall Sheep hunting in Alaska, a Terramark for desirable SUB-MOA accuracy, or an Accumark for White-tailed Deer hunting in Texas, you can be assured that every shot will be accurate and that you’re holding the best rifle you will ever purchase.
The Weatherby Mark V Series comes in over 14 different models and is offered in numerous calibers.
Popular Mark V Models include:
The Mark V Accumark sets the bar for all hunting rifles to follow with its superior craftsmanship and attention to detail. All Accumarks are guaranteed to obtain sub-MOA accuracy. The Weatherby Mark V Accumark rifle is the standard model in the Mark V firearm line. The rifle sits in a hand-laminated, raised comb Monte Carlo composite stock with full length aluminum bedding block and a matte gel coated finish with spiderweb accents. The barrel is a hand-lapped, free-floating #3 contour fluted stainless steel barrel with recessed crown. The Mark V Accumark is offered in over 19 different calibers, with a few left-hand models also being offered.
The Weatherby Mark V Accumark is also offered in a Range Certified model, which is the same rifle as a standard Mark V but goes through additional testing for performance and accuracy. Each RC model will come with a ballistic date sheet which is personally reviewed and signed off on by Ed Weatherby himself, and features a specially engraved floor plate with the RC logo embedded on it.
The Mark V Weathermark was developed for the most rigorous conditions hunters can sometimes face in the field. The Weathermark is very similar to the standard Mark V but features a rugged tactical grey Cerakote finish on its barrel and other metal work, adding additional weather resistance to the rifle. The Weathermark features a non-fluted hand lapped chrome-moly barrel with a field crown and comes in a assortment of calibers.
The Mark V Deluxe model is the classic model in the product line, paying homage to the days of traditional craftsmanship for hunters that appreciate the classic hunting rifle style. The Mark V Deluxe model features an ergonomically designed “AA” fancy grade, Claro walnut Monte Carlo stock (French walnut on the .460 wby).
The model also features a fineline, diamond point checkering, rosewood forend and grip cap with Maplewood spacers. The Deluxe comes with a hand-lapped chrome-moly barrel with a blued high luster finish and is offered in an assortment of calibers.

The accuracy range capability comes from its hand lapped, Krieger Custom, match grade, cut-rifled free-floated #3 contour barrel. The TacMark Elite rifle comes Range Certified with guaranteed sub-MOA accuracy.
Presented in the late 1960s, the Weatherby Vanguard Rifle initially served as a cost-effective substitute for the Mark V series of Weatherby Rifles. Throughout the years, Weatherby Vanguard Rifles have continuously gained admiration amid hunters who can clearly no longer repudiate the incomparable combination of value, extensive range of features and guaranteed accuracy. With models starting fairly below the $1,000-mark, Vanguard is perhaps the finest rifle value on the market today. All Weatherby Vanguard rifles are guaranteed to shoot SUB-MOA when used with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition at 100 yards. The Monte Carlo stock combines modern synthetic materials with pistol and forend inserts to provide for a non-slip grip.
Constructed on a two-lug design featuring a fully enclosed bolt sleeve and fluted bolt body, the Weatherby Vanguard Rifle offers several of the same design elements and superior construction as the Mark V. Vanguard rifles carry the unrivaled knockdown force of both Weatherby Magnum and standard calibers. Factor in match quality, a two-stage “creep-free” trigger system that breaks crisp and clean and a cold hammer forged barrel, the result is a highly accurate and dependable rifle that delivers year after year.
The Weatherby Vanguard line’s features also include a one-piece machined receiver with integral recoil lug for added strength. A one-piece trigger guard with hinged floorplate provides easy access to unfired cartridges, and the one-piece machined fluted bolt body with massive M-16 style extractor ensures reliable extraction every time. The Griptonite synthetic gun stock is designed to hold a secure firm grip even in harsh conditions, has comfortable and appealing lines and comes with a recoil pad made of a low-density material for a reduced recoil effect.
The Vanguard Wilderness Rifle is textbook for hunting and backcountry ruggedness when you’re covering distances deep in the heart of big game country. With a light carbon fiber stock and weight-shaving features like the flutes on the barrel, this rifle pulls up nicely and has a clean trigger break.
The Vanguard Deluxe in presentation is virtually indistinguishable from the Mark V Deluxe, with its high luster blue finish on the barrel and receiver, Claro Walnut Monte Carlo stock with cut, fine line checkering and rosewood forearm tip and pistol grip cap set off by Maplewood line spacers.
As the name suggests, the Vanguard Weatherguard is completely protected against dangerous or time-wearing environmental factors. If you like to get out into the bush and hammer out long distance hikes in wet environments, this gun will perform without a single worry. It also comes with a Monte Carlo stock made of ultra-tough Griptonite, and the metalworks are securely protected with a great looking Cerakote finish.
Regardless of which Weatherby Vanguard Rifle you choose to buy, whether it’s a high luster Deluxe or the all-terrain down and dirty Weatherguard for hunting in all types of climate, you will be privileged to shoulder one of the best values available in a centerfire hunting rifle today. The Weatherby Vanguard Series rifles come in 16 different variations and models.
