Product Description

Federal's revolutionary Buckshot with Flitecontrol features a wad that uses a rear-braking shot cup to stay with pellets longer and choke them into a lethally tight pattern. It ensures dense patterns, eliminates the need for expensive aftermarket chokes and provides more pellets on target. The Premium shot is copper-plated for uniform pellets and deep penetration.

This is very good ammo. The copper-plated buffer stops the buckshot from deforming. The flight control wad gives the buckshot a tighter pattern than any other brand I have used. This ammo can be used for hunting or home defense. This ammo does have some recoil to it but not as much as a 3 in. magnum shotgun shell. If your shotgun has a good recoil system in it you won't notice it that much.

Info on pattern testing several offerings of 12g 00 Buckshot. Tests were done at varying distances of 7yds, 15yds, 25yds & 40yds. All rounds were tested thru a Benelli M1 Super90 - 18 1/2" smooth bore barrel w/ Improved Cylinder Choke. All shots were from a standing off-hand position using a standard full-size IDPA target. Several observations, thru the short barrel, I was very impressed with how well the Federal loads patterned at those distances. Technology has come a long way from the old days of standard 00 such as the S&B with a simple fiber buffer/wad and lead pellets. These were noticeably cleaner burning than any other buckshot I have used from MANY different manufacturers. All rounds were aimed at the center of the 8" circle in the IDPA target. The Federals consistently shot a little high from point of aim - starting at the beginning which is noticeable from the 7yd mark. In the final target at 40yds the Federals placed all 9 on the full size sheet, 7 of which were in the white, 2 in the black. The 2 that were in the black, one was just barely outside the white edge almost touching the other was within 2 inches to the white. I am confident that with zero-ing in the sights to the new Federal load that all 9 pellets will pattern on the white at 40yds. Eventually I will go thru an extended 50yd test with the Federals but need to wait to get more & zero in just for curiosity purposes. These have been GREAT and would definitely recommend.

I did Buckshot Pattern Testing w/ 18.5" SmoothBore barrel w/ IC choke and several different brands. Tests were done at varying distances of 7yds, 15yds, 25yds & 40yds. All rounds were tested thru a Benelli M1 Super90 - 18 1/2" smooth bore barrel w/ Improved Cylinder Choke. All shots were from a standing off-hand position. Several observations, thru the short barrel, I was very impressed with how well the Federal FCW load patterned at those distances. Technology has come a long way from the old days of standard 00 such as the S&B with a simple fiber buffer/wad and lead pellets. The Federals consistently shot a little high from point of aim - starting at the beginning which is noticeable from the 7yd mark. This is a simple re-zero based on the new Federal rounds to correct. With the Ghost ring diopter on the Benelli elevation & windage adjustments are simple. At 7 yards it was one single large hole, no spread whatsoever. In the final target at 40yds the Federals placed all 9 on the full size IDPA sheet, 7 of which were in the white, 2 in the black. Out of many buckshot loads I tested with my barrel with the Federals consistently came out #1. Very impressive, with these rounds, how much farther it is not usable compared to old-school standard lead 00.
