First let me say this is a review of two guns. saying that now understand it started off with me building an ultimate 22lr sniper rifle,,, I started off with a Savage mk ii fvsr . great 22 bad stock, so I mounted it in a Boyds Tacticool stock. and wow a shooter was born. I have a cheap 6 x 18 x 50 made somewhere they eat rice 3 x a day.But still has clear glass at around 99.00 and a Harris bipod the bench rest model. Total package 525.00. Now rabbits won't come 175 yds. to the house. They stay beyond the driveway; even with cheap bulk ammo there's just no missing out to 175yds. Now I'm showing my gun off at the local gun shop when a Marlin lover asked could I make the same gun out of a Marlin. Hhmmm I had to think about this one. What a great challenge!!! Adding the same after market parts I did before, the Marlin xt-22rz was just as sweet as the Savage. Only difference was the Marlin had a 22" barrel and the Savage was 18.5" since I shoot from a porch or a bench the added length makes little difference. The two rifles like almost the same ammo so my pocket book really likes that. If you're in a area that still sells 22lr. - you know 7.00 am at the local wally world for your daily two boxes. lol. Oooh haters gonna hate now.Ha ha ha. Ended up trading my new Marlin with all the addons to the guy in the gun shop, and he can't put it down. Wife says she thinks he's sleeping with it, calls it the best gun he's ever owned. Hope it can survive the marriage, but on the lighter side of things, from about 150yds. and closer, he never misses anymore!!!
