The Model 336 family is one of the most popular hunting rifles in North America. Offered in 30-30 Winchester or 35 Remington, it embodies Marlin's dedication to dependability, pinpoint accuracy and good looks. These popular carbines and rifles have a hardwood or laminated hardwood stocks, 6-shot capacity, adjustable rear and bead front sights, and the receiver is tapped for a scope mount. A barrel with micro-groove rifling makes it exceptionally handy in the brush and deadly accurate.

This is a sweet little rifle and I love it. You'll hear a lot from the Marlin fan camps that the rifles produced after Remington took over the Marlin are garbage. It almost scared me off of picking one up, but I did anyway. My experience with this little lever gun has been great and the walnut stock is beautiful.
So why four stars instead of five? Because the rifle was functional out of the box, but its function was greatly improved through lightly sanding and polishing internal components. There are a fair bit of factory rough edges that smoothing out will help you get that glass smooth action you want from a lever gun. It's maybe 30-40 minutes of work that isn't that hard and anyone can do with a basic disassembly of the rifle.
