I purchased this rifle from a competitor for the fact that it has open sights and has a heavy threaded barrel. I was very excited about this purchase expecting to have some decent accuracy with a heavy barrel and the fact that it was a savage rifle that has a descent reputation for accuracy. I tried three different types of ammo and I could not achieve one inch MOA. The heavier grain weight ammo did the best. I do not know if I got a bad barrel but I know that this rifle should shoot better that it does. 11/2" was the best I could get out of it at a 100yrds and 5" pattern with the open sight at 50yrds. I had to shift the leaf sight 2 notches to the right to get close to center of the target. I will take it out to my range one more time to see if it will do better with a longer break in period. Personally I was not impressed with the accuracy of this rifle. It is a shame because I love the set up. I am currently looking at purchasing a Ruger predator set up if this rifle will not comply with my expectations. Do not expect to get a tack driver with this rifle. It will serve its purpose as a close range working rifle. I was just expecting a little more accuracy than that.

This is a tough, accurate rifle that I am very happy with. It makes a great truck gun for the farm yet accurate enough to take the 200-300 yard shots with ease.
