Product Description

All USPs feature a fiber-reinforced polymer frame stiffened by stainless steel inserts at areas subject to stress and friction. HK pioneered this use of polymer materials in the production of handguns more than 30 years ago with the development of the VP70Z and P9S pistols. The USP control lever, a combination safety and decocking lever, is frame mounted and quickly accessible, unlike the slide-mounted safeties common on many semi-automatic pistols. Using a modified Browning-type action with a special patented recoil reduction system, the USP recoil reduction system reduces recoil effects on pistol components and also lowers the recoil forces felt by the shooter. This same recoil reduction system has been tested and proven in the HK Mark 23 pistol developed for the U.S. Special Operations Command. The USP recoil reduction system is insensitive to ammunition types and requires no special adjustment or maintenance. It functions effectively in all USP models. The Variant 1 has a double action/single action with "SAFE position and control lever (manual safety/decoking lever) on left side of frame.

First let me say that ordering my H&K USP 40 here was a very pleasing experience. It arrived at my FFL dealer for transfer a lot faster than I expected. After the normal 10-day waiting period I received the H&K, and took on the task of cleaning the weapon thoroughly. It gave me a chance to inspect the gun closely, and let me tell you this is one fine pistol. The fit and finish can easily be rated among the best out there. The price may be a little higher than most other firearms, but rest assured this one will keep its value. The price I paid here at HinterlandOutfitters is less than many other dealers on the internet, and way less than local dealers were asking for the same weapon. I had a chance to take it to the range for its first firing, using JHP and FP ammunition. I shot about 200 rounds through it and it performed absolutely flawlessly. It is very easy to get on target and when shooting single action it is a truly delightful experience. The target reflected its accuracy out-of-the-box, the center (bullseye) was shot out completely. Let me say that I am by no means an expert shooting handguns, but this one is exceptionally easy to shoot. Those that are interested in this pistol will not be dissatisfied, that I can say without reservation. The other handgun I own is a Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II, in .45 cal. another fine handgun, but that one had one FTE in the first 50 rounds. The H&K had none in over 200 rounds - speaks for itself doesn't it?

My recent purchase here finally made it through the 10-day wait period, giving me the opportunity to evaluate this firearm. It certainly is well built, with very tight tolerances, much to my liking. I also had a chance to clean the gun and take it to the range - what a delight that was. It shoots very well, with no FFT or FTE using a variety of ammunition. I can say that the recoil reducing assembly does what they claim it'll do. It feels like shooting a .38 wadcutter out of a 6" barrel revolver - very mild. Firing at a standard 50-foot distance I had to change targets as the center of the target (the bulls-eye) was completely shot out. This is one easy-to-control firearm. For anyone wishing to buy one, I wholeheartedly recommend the H & K USP series. It is far easier on your hands to shoot than the Kimber Ultra Carry II (a 45 cal) - another one I own. Now there are two favorite guns to have fun with. The whole process of ordering it from Hinterland Outfitters was painless, very quick, and the followup order status is excellent. I will be a repeat customer for sure! Again, Thanks to all of you responsible for completing my order. I could not ask for a more efficient, courteous, and friendly service as I received here.
