I've used Winchester's X22LRS 'ratshot' on copperheads and rats and even the occasional possum. I like the way the shell casing is constructed, with a pinched end. To my eye, it seems superior to any other #12 shot out there for sale because the casing is longer and able
to hold more powder to drive the #12 pellets. Up close, there's no denying that these small .22 caliber shells will kill just about anything you want to dispose of because, up close, the pellets have most of the power of a solid bullet. One shot to a Copperhead's head will dispatch it in a hurry. I also believe that Winchester makes a superior .22 'ratshot' . For one thing, the power is better than CCI's because the report is louder. A louder report means more powder to drive out those #12 shot. Another thing: since the casing is solid brass, I don't have to be concerned with a bullet whose pellets are held in place by a plastic shield, as done with the CCI brand. Simply put, the Winchester X22LRS bullets are more powerful and more rugged than any other brand I'm familiar with. One final thing: locally, the CCI shells are much more
expensive than the Winchester X22LRS. The price at Hinterland is much better, because with the CCIs, I get only 20 shells per box; with Hinterland's box of 50 shells, the cost is much more reasonable. Would you rather have a box of 50 solid brass Winchester X22LRS shells or a box of 20 CCI shells for about the same price?

If you're looking for a 22 shot shell, this is the one i highly recommend. Been using 22 shot for years and have used them all. These are absolutely the best.
