Accuracy International AT Rifle Systems

The AT308 Accuracy Tactical .308 Win features a 20" Match Grade Lother Walther Barrel in a 1:12 twist rifle system . Rifle includes a Optional Folding Stock, Adjustable Checkpiece, Quickloc Barrel Realese, Two-Stage Trigger and a 10 Round magazine. Bipods, Night Vision Rails and Custom Cases are optional items sold separately. AT rifle systems come in three different colors- Black, OD Green and Pale Brown. Custom packages with optics and mounts are also available. Some rifles will take an additional build time.

The AT (Accuracy Tactical) continues the legacy of the combat proven AW308 and takes the AT to new levels.The AT is ideal for Law Enforcement and civilian users. The AT series comprises as a stand-alone .308 Win (short-action). The AT308 is also a multi caiber rifle capabale of interchanging between barrel lengths and calibers of the same casing size (6.5 Creedmore, 243 Win, 260 Rem and 6mm).

Accuracy International was started in 1978 by a group of national and international target shooters, one of which was a two time Olympic Gold Medalist. Designed by shooters, for shooters. The original design's ethos combined two factors into a unique package: namely the incorporation of performance enhancing features learned in Olympic and international target shooting onto a rifle platform exhibiting full militarty ruggedness. The current designs are faithful to the orginal concept but also benefit from thirty years of continuous improvement. These advances are not cosmetic but are driven by the needs of users, highly trained military and police units in over 60 countries world-wide. On a daily basis such units are exposed to "live" tactical situations in the most demanding environments where first shot accuracy is critical. All componets are manufactured to Accuracy Internaional designs to ensure that they must perform, something that cannot be achieved with a ruggedished sporting weapon.

1. Barrel:

The AT 308 feastures a UK Lother Walther Match Grade free floating barrel. Lother Walther Barrels make some of the finest barrels in the world, widely used by Elite Military Units, Law Enforcement Agencies and Competitive Shooters. Barrels can be changed in less than a minute using the 4mm hex key allowing the user to shoot different calibers and barrel lengths out of the same rifle. Barrels are screwed into the action with a large 27mm diameter thread.

2. Butt Pad:

Large, recoil absorbing, butt pad for increased comfort. User adjustable for length of pull using the included spacers. Target butt pad with height and rotation adjustment available as an accessory.

3. Adjustable Cheekpiece:

Lateral/height adjustment to obtain the perfect eye position.

4. Sling Points:

Quick detach flush cup style for rapid sling repositioning, two rear, two above the pistol grip and two forward.

5. Folding Stock (Optional): Price: $474

This allows the stock to be folded when travelling in vehicles or for parachute insertions. The stock locks in the folded position for sercurtiy and the avoidance of noise. It is released by pulling firmly on the butt. The wear compensated hinge ensures total rigidity in the extended position. Stock folds to the right and reduces the rifle length.

6. Pistol Grip:

Ergonomically advanced pistol grip. Traditional thumbhole stock sides are available as an accessory.

7. Safety Mechanism:

A three-position safety mechanism is fitted to the rifle. The first (rear) position blocks the firing pin and locks the bolt in the closed position. The second (mid) position blocks the firing pin, but allows the bolt to be operated so a live round may be removed from the chamber with the weabon in a safe condition. The third (forward) position allows the weapon to be fired. The safety will only operate when the bolt is cocked.

8. Trigger:

The Rifle is fitted with a battle-proven two-stage trigger, which allows a large sear engagement to be maintained until the user takes up the first stage. This reduces the chance of an accidental discharge if the the rifle is jolted when cocked. The trigger is adjustable for the pull weights of 3.3-4.4LB (1.5-2.0kg). The trigger assembly can be easily removed for cleaning bu undoing the two socket head cap screws.

9. Bolt:

20mm diameter close fitting bolt with six locking lugs and proven AI one-piece extractor. To minimize hand movement, the short throw (60°) handle lies close to the side of the stock just above the trigger.

10. Action:

The steel flat-bottomed action is bolted and bonded to the full length aluminium chassis for rigidity. The action is fitted with a barrel release screw to allow the user to change the barrel in less than one minute using a 4mm hex key.

11. 10-Round Magazine:

One detachable steel magazine is included. This industry-leading design is corrosion resistant and low friction for reliable feeding.

12. Night Vision Mount (Optional): Price: $470

A co-planar mount with a NATO STANAG 4694/Mil Std 1913 specification rail is available as an accessory.

13. Muzzle Brake (On Select Models):

A double chamber muzzle brake with or without a fitting for a suppressor. Standard for 26" barrels and is an option / accessory for 20" and 24" barrels.
AT308 rifles can also be ordered with no muzzle brake. Optional re-threading to American thread configurations is also avaiable.

14. Accessory Rail (Optional):

Rails are available as accessories in various lengths and use AI’s patented KeySlot™ mounting system. The KeySlot system has been successfully MIL-STD tested for vibratio, shock and resistance to movement and rotation.

15. Quickloc Barrel Release:

The patent pending release allows for quick barrel removal and refit. (using the 4mm hex key sold separately) The AT is a multi-role rifle letting the user switch between barrel lengths and calibers within less than one minute in the field.  The AT308 can only convert to calibers of similar casing size.

"Form Follows Funtion" is a concept just as applicable to product designs as it is to architecture. At Accuracy International, they pride themselves upon understanding the necessary "function" of their products by staying in constant contact with the community that uses them and using the knowledge they gain as the starting point for their design process.  Some things are fundamental: given the nature of their use, sniper rifles must be highly accurate, rugged and reliable. Consequently these characteristics are incorporated into every product they make.

To achieve these goals requires the deployment of advanced tools and methodologies. AI employs world class computer aided design and analysis tools to optimize function and durability. By combining these methods with advanced prototyping technology on site, AI can rapidly assess and compare a large number of design options, and iterate towards the optimum design concept. AI’s prototype development processes are enhanced by the use of a high speed video camera that allows its engineers to analyze the behavior of the products in exquisite detail, whether it be visualizing the gas flow through a muzzle brake, seeing how the rifle chassis flexes when dropped, or capturing the movement of the firing mechanism. Only by understanding the performance of the weapon to this degree can AI take its product designs to the next level!

Manufacturing:

The foundation of AI’s approach to manufacturing is a culture of continuous improvement and employee involvement based upon the teachings of W. Edwards Deming, who transformed Japanese manufacturing processes in Japan after WW2.  Deming’s philosophy is built around key principles ultimately aimed at bringing value to the customer.  They include building quality into the product at the design stage and focusing on it throughout the production process, identifying all of the steps in the process chain, making the processes flow efficiently and striving for perfection by continually identifying and eliminating waste.

To achieve this, AI deploys quality and statistical tools based on the Six Sigma methods developed by Motorola in 1986 and strict compliance with the ISO 9001 quality management system.

These methods are the foundations of the entire manufacturing process and besides dramatically improving the quality of the products, they deliver other benefits as well.
