Glock's G19 standard compact pistol is versatile due to its reduced dimensions when compared with the standard-sized option. The 9mm G19 has found worldwide acclaim with both private and public security agencies. In addition to its use as a conventional service pistol, it is ideal for concealed carry or a backup weapon.

Glock 19: Great 9mm pistol! Very smooth and very reliable. I was pleased to find that Hinterland had it in stock. The G19 is called a "compact", and it is indeed smaller than the full-size Glock 17 9mm. However, the 19 fits very well in even large hands. As I said, it is a great pistol.

I have had two two Glocks for years -- a G19 and a G22. They are both reasonably accurate, easy to maintain, easy to use, and ultra-reliable even with infrequent cleaning and lubrication.
Primarily a bulls-eye competitor used to a light and crisp trigger, I did not initially enjoy the Glock trigger. That was until I took a personal protection class with my G19! I have a new appreciation for Glocks and their more recent "copies" (S&W M&P, S&W SD9, Springfield XD, etc.).
The more deliberate trigger, lack of external safety levers, point-ability, rugged magazines, and accuracy of rapid fire made the G19 an ideal choice for a personal defense class. In fact, two of the other students who had been using traditional SA/DA semi-automatics said after the class that they were going to go shopping for a Glock.
The G19 is for me the best Glock 9MM compromise size-wise as it falls between the full size G17 (which is better choice for USPSA or IDPA competition) and the sub-compact G26 (which is a better choice if the sole purpose is concealed carry).
The G19 is small enough for concealed carry yet large enough for accuracy and retention in self defense situations. There is a wonderful variety of parts and accessories from Glock and the aftermarket.
This is particularly important for lefties like me. Finding left handed Glock holsters for all applications is easy where it is more difficult for my SIG, Steyr, etc. The G19 itself is a lot more lefty friendly than most guns in its class.
I have a variety of combat semi-auto handguns and the G19 may just be my all-time favorite for most applications.

This may be my all-time favorite pistol. I have put mine through a bit of abuse; it has never malfunctioned or failed to fire. It eats everything I throw at it. I don't shoot in competitions, but I have always found it extremely easy for me to shoot accurately--even with the standard sights.
It feels good and solid in my average-sized hands, though some might find it blocky or thick (e.g., the grip is a little big for my wife). I don't think it's the best CCW piece (I prefer my more inconspicuous Kel-Tec P11), but in all other ways I find it just about perfect.
If I could have only one pistol, it would be the Glock 19. I highly recommended it as a durable, reliable pistol that does what it should each and every time--even if you can't treat it as well as you should--and is fun to shoot.
