I own this rifle and really enjoy it. When I received the rifle the bolt was stiff and the rounds did not feed smoothly. After working the bolt and feeding rounds through the magazine it now operates nicely. The length of pull was slightly too long for me, so I had it shortened from 13 7/8 to 13 1/4. You can also install a mercury recoil reducer in the butt stock for practicing, and then if you want. remove it for hunting. I really like the 19mm quick release rings available for this rifle.
Recoil from the rifle is stout, but the muzzle blast is quite tolerable in my opinion. I recommend a lead sled for load development, and sighting, which helps with recoil dramatically. This is definitely my favorite rifle - it feels rugged and solid. The rifle is accurate, very fun to reload, and fun to shoot!
Purchasing a firearm from Hinterland Outfitters was a very pleasant experience. I really appreciated how they inspected my firearm for defects before it was sent. I also thought it was convenient that they sent a tracking email so that I could follow it directly to my FFL.

I own a CZ 550 American Safari Rifle in 416 Rigby model 04712. I did not buy this rifle from Hinterland Outfitters, but have purchased a firearm from them and was very pleased with their service. I have done research into what modifications I could do to make this rifle custom to my needs. I had the length of pull cut to 13 1/4 inches from the center of the trigger to the end of a one inch recoil pad. My research suggests that it may be cut slightly shorter, but not by much as the cheek piece poses a problem. One and possibly two 14 ounce mercury recoil reducers can be installed into the butt stock. The reducers are backed by a piece of wood and are removable. It does not appear that there is enough room to install a reducer in the fore end. From what I understand you can port the barrel or install a muzzle break; however the muzzle blast will increase dramatically and some professional hunting outfits do not allow them. In my opinion without porting or brakes, the muzzle blast from the 25 inch barrel is quite tolerable. I bought 19mm quick release rings and installed my favorite dangerous game low power scope. Fancy grade, field grade, or Kevlar replacement stocks for this rifle can be purchased directly thorugh CZ. When I received the rifle the bolt was stiff and the rounds did not feed smoothly. I worked the bolt and fed rounds through from the magazine; it now feeds and operates smoothly. There was a small crack in the Kevlar which, due to location, I was able to remove when I shortened the length of pull, so inspect your firearm carefully before transfer. The recoil this rifle will produce is stout so be forewarned. If you wish to practice with it a lot, I would buy a professional reloading manual and choose powders that can create velocities to accommodate your tolerance level. I also recommend a Lead Sled for sighting in and load development. Overall I am very pleased with my rifle. The rifle is accurate, versatile, very fun to reload for and shoot!!
