Nighthawk Custom designed the Border Special model in collaboration with Sheriff Jim Wilson, the legendary border patrol officer, and county sheriff in Crockett County. Wilson was responsible for keeping our southern border secure during the cartel era of the ’80s, spending 15 years patrolling the Rio Grande, and the formation of a narcotics unit in Denton County. With over 40 years of carrying a 1911, dating back to the early ‘70s, Wilson formulated many ideas on what a fighting pistol should be. Those ideas have come together in the creation of the Border Special. It was built on a Concealed Carry Cut, Commander-sized frame and slide with the standard chambering in .45 ACP. The frame and mainspring housing have been carry optimized with scallop texturing for minimal slippage. We outfitted the slide with a Heinie Slant Pro rear sight, a Gold Bead front sight, and the slide top is serrated for improved sight acquisition. Whether you’re protecting the border or protecting your home, you can bet your hide this pistol will get the job done.
