Great rifle, very accurate - just get a new stock and you're good to go.

Got a great rifle. Barrel shoots very well. Replace the stock if you can; the Hogue stock is worthless. Plastic "V" bedding is garbage. If you shoot with a bipod the gun literally bounces when you shoot it. Still get 1/2 MOA with it at 100 yards. After weapon was put in a MDT LSS chassis I'm achieving sub MOA out to 600 yards. Action works flawlessly. Barrel is NOT crowned.

My goal on this build was to achieve sub moa accuracy for less than $1000. So far this rifle wins big. Versatility and price make this rifle a big winner compared with other options. I also looked at the Savage models but the volume of aftermarket options for the 700 and factory threaded barrel won me over in the end. 5 stars because any faults are minor (flexible stock) and overlooked because of value.

This rifle is a best buy especially when compared to $9,000 precision rifles out there. It may not give you a sub-MOA performance, but for less than $700, come-on...!

While looking for a rifle, the Remington 700 kept popping up as the best for the price. Then I saw the tactical with the threaded barrel and saw videos of people shooting 1000 yards acutely, and I knew this was the next one for me. I've put a couple hundred rounds down range and taken out a few deer and hogs, and it's still one of my favorite firearms. You see a lot of people talking about changing out the Houge stock for something a little more rigid with more clearance around the barrel, but I like how the light weight of the stock evens out the heavy weight of the BBL barrel. Fully loaded this weapon weighs 12 lbs. so adding a stiffer stock which equals more weight would take this out of the realm of hunting rifles, but you would have a great range rifle. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is, in the trips I've taken into the bush, I found that any moisture and the gun rusts instantly. The black mat paint they use does nothing to protect against surface rust. I always clean my guns after each shoot but after a year it already looked a little rough, so I ended up having it coated by Cerakote and can't be happier. I would truly suggest this rifle to anyone. With a little modification is can rival systems 3 times the price...

This is the rifle that I have wanted since I started looking for a bolt action. Now I have it. After opening the box, the length of the barrel is just truly amazing and with the twist I am very pleased with this rifle. I would recommend when this rifle comes in stock you pick it up A.S.A.P.

I have been researching bolt action rifles in 308 caliber for the past 2 weeks and this rifle keeps coming up as one of the best buys for the price. I gave it a 4 star because most people that purchase it say they have to replace the OEM stock with a upgraded version to ensure the best accuracy of the weapon since the barrel is not a floating barrel. There seems to be some pressure placed at the front of the barrel, if Remington could upgrade the stock or correct this issue then it would definitely be a 5 star rifle for the price. If you take the action out of this OEM stock and place it into another higher end stock you will have yourself a very dependable and capable rifle for under $900 (not included glass, etc).

I've researched a lot of deer hunting/sniper rifles this season. And this is my next purchase! The price difference in the R700 tactical and the R700 tactical with the threaded barrel (AAC-SSD) is only like $20 difference. Plus the barrel twist is 1:10 instead of 1:12, so you can fire a heavier grain more accurately! Of course a suppressor for your threaded barrel will run you over $1,000 with taxes/license but at least you have that option later if you want to!
