Product Description

An economical, high speed steel load that is ideal for short range high volume shooting during early duck seasons, or over decoys. Sportsman steel works equally as well in upland situations that require the use of non-toxic shotshells. Sportsman hi-speed steel offers all the dependability and performance you would expect while also delivering exceptional pattern density and retained energy.

I patterned these shells as well as every other shell I have bought over the years. These shells patterned better than every other steel shell I shot out of my Winchester Super x2. The best choke for me was Carlson Extended Sporting Clays Improved Modified. I did my patterning at 50 yards and on 24" wide by 30" tall cardboard. Most patterning is at 40yards with a 30" circle so my percentages would be - I am guessing - 15% higher at 40 yds. and 30" circle. I got 118 hits out of 170 total for 69%. I believe this load will be effective penetration wise to 55 yards. If the #2 shot could hold onto speed like lead this load would really reach out there to 60-70 yards. I tried Remington Hypersonic 3 1/2" #2 and it gave 100 hits at same range, same choke for 59% pattern. The Hypersonic 3 1/2" has velocity to penetrate to 65 yards so it is a great pass ammo if you and your gun can handle it. Hypersonic 12 ga. 3 1/2" is the hardest kicking ammo I ever shot and it sounds like a high powered rifle going off.
