Is it possible for a pistol small enough to carry every day to have all the features and capacity that you'd expect in a larger pistol? If that pistol is the XD-S from Springfield Armory, the answer is yes. Essential models come with two magazines.

This has been my daily carry for going on the last 8 months, by far a very seamless experience. Put it on when you go out and forget that it's there. I carry with a sticky holster and have never worried about it falling out of my waist. As for the gun itself, it's a good shooter. I've been able to keep groups under 3 inches at 15 yards without any difficulty, especially because of the fiber optic front sight is so easy to spot. The safety features are also not intrusive whatsoever. Overall I would definitely recommend this gun as a conceal carry option.

First, as a long time XD and XDM fan I expected to like this pistol, but it took a range trip to actually trust it.
It fits nicely in my large hands, but also suits my daughter's (technically my daughter in law, but I own her) much smaller hands. The pistol was thoroughly cleaned and oiled beforehand, and then we fired 200 rounds of Freedom Munitions 124 grain RN Reman without any further cleaning or - more importantly - malfunctions. Shooting well with it will take practice, but it is consistent, controllable, and reliable so that will come.
I chose the XDS over the Mod-2 because it's slightly thinner and has been available longer. These are serious virtues in a carry pistol when even a tenth of an inch can matter, plus it's nice to know that someone else has already found the flaws.
