I purchased this Taylor's 1886 Lever Action rifle, case hardened with Octagon barrel and I'm completely happy with it.
I had been wanting the Winchester 1886 deluxe, but couldn't find it in stock anywhere. I'm glad I found this one by Taylor's. It has a few advantages I think over the winchester.
This has a 26" barrel, not 24" and this has the "half cock" safety whereas the newer Winchester has a tang safety that a lot of guys are saying they don't like. This Taylor's gun is very accurate. I've shot a couple of boxes of ammo through it already and like the way it handles. This is a faithful replica of a Winchester I had back in the 1970's. I saw some people saying it was stiff but it's not. After oiling and then using it for an hour at the range, it has as smooth an operation as you'd want. It chambers rounds smoothly. It's a very well built heavy duty rifle. The case hardened part is quite nice looking and the wood grain is pretty too. I got mine from Hinterland Outfitters and they were very efficient and kept me informed every step of the way from order, to FFL details, to shipping. I could not be happier, so 5 stars for sure.
