When I first opened the hard case it came in I was just so floored! This rifle looks amazing and feels so great against the shoulder! It's pretty hefty but it's magnificence easily distracts you. I opted for the steel action so as to have a sturdy build when under intense stress and I know I haven't made a mistake. The furniture is absolutely beautiful in the walnut that it is. I got several compliments while at the range especially since it was propped on the rack next to my German K98! It's kinda neat to think that they once were enemies and now they shoot side by side as brothers! The only hiccup I have come across is the extremely heavy bolt in the action. If you don't get a good rack on it it does cause a misfeed. I know over time the spring will loosen up and allow for an easier pull. I was honestly expecting a heavy kick because of it being a .45 but with the force of the round spread across the long body and the heftiness of the rifle, it renders the recoil to that of a .22! This is overall a very nice firearm and an amazing piece of history especially since it is held against original design specs from Auto Ordinance! You won't go wrong with this purchase and the price point is outstanding!

The TM1 is a magnificent weapon. The photo for this gun does not do it justice, the walnut furniture is a beautiful dark color and looks very similar to WWII museum displays. It is a beast at 12 lbs., but very well balanced. The triple-spring system the bolt utilizes makes charging the weapon a bit of a task, but not impossible. The one feature that is not mentioned here is that it comes in a pretty nice black hard case, with a big Thompson bullet logo on the center and the words "Chicago Typewriter" emblazoned underneath. The only downside to the gun is you cannot adjust the front or rear sights on these classics. I own numerous AR's, and this has quickly become my second favorite gun behind my Armalite AR-10 National Match. I love pistol caliber carbines, own a Colt 9mm AR, and after much debate choose this over a .45 Kriss rifle. A little cheaper, more nostalgic and just plain cool. Plus, Hinterland once again has the best prices out there and is a great company to do business with. If you are on the fence, jump off and buy one.

While the HK MP-5 and some what the UZI are considered modern ( not pistols with stocks), both were still conceived in the very early 60's and though the licensed copies are adequate the Thompson fires the .45 ACP round, is considered accurate and though iconic ( some would say antique) but for the money it is a classic. Plastic stocks and grips degrade with time, this rifle/SMG made of wood and steel will be firing 100 years from now.
